Why blackjack is different
In dice, crash, or limbo the outcome is decided by a random number the moment you bet. In blackjack you choose whether to hit, stand, double, or split after seeing your cards and the dealer’s up card. Those choices have mathematically correct answers, and following them is the single biggest thing separating a small house edge from a large one.
Basic strategy fundamentals
- Always stand on hard 17 or higher. The risk of busting outweighs the small gain.
- Hit hard 8 or below every time. You cannot bust and you need a stronger total.
- Double down on 11 against most dealer cards, when the rules allow it.
- Always split aces and 8s; never split 10s or 5s.
- Stand on 12 to 16 when the dealer shows 2 to 6 (they are more likely to bust), but hit those totals when the dealer shows 7 or higher.
What strategy can and cannot do
Basic strategy shrinks the house edge to its minimum, but it does not flip the game in your favor. The casino still holds a small mathematical edge over the long run, and online blackjack shuffles every hand, so card counting does not apply the way it might at a physical table. What you are buying with strategy is the best possible odds and far less money bled to avoidable mistakes.
Bankroll still matters most
Even at under 1% house edge, variance will hand you losing streaks. Bet a small, fixed percentage of your bankroll per hand and set a stop-loss and a win-goal before you start.
